The Kaua`i Aloha Endowment is a unique contribution to this community, one of which we can be proud. The Endowment is truly an entity that supports Kaua`i and Kaua`i’s people through the fund that is growing now, to live in perpetuity. Our Purpose The Kaua'i Aloha Endowment, in collaboration with Hawai'i Community Foundation, was established to insure that resources will forever be available to preserve that which we most cherish about Kaua'i: her natural beauty, culture and the spirit of her people. Our Vision To Protect, Preserve and Enhance Kaua'i's Island Treasures... Today, Tomorrow and Forever Aloha It's Kaua'i's Spirit ONE ISLAND MANY PEOPLES ALL KAUAIANS Knowing Our Terms Endowment: Indicates that contributions are not spent but invested in perpetuity, thus benefiting the community forever by providing a permanent, growing source of income to support Kaua'i and Kauaians. Remember, there are four ways to contribute to Building the Endowment at this time: Financially, In-Kind Service, Purchasing or Selling Products, and most of all each of us can Share the Message of the Endowment with everyone. Recognition AlohaThe Joy of Service in Action Aloha Products enter Lihue Wal-Mart. In early 2004, the first T-shirts, greeting cards and other products moved across the checkout counter. No easy feat, considering how long it took to get there from initial conversations between Wal-Mart and Endowment leaders. “We’ve been very fortunate. It’s been a long haul,” said Barbara Smith, a retired teacher and volunteer Endowment product distributor. Wal-Mart is based elsewhere, so that meant going up the chain of command to the mainland to get the OK, she continued. And no new products enter Wal-Mart without a rigorous review process. The Aloha Products are now prominently displayed just behind the checkout counters along the main aisle. We are grateful for Barbara’s and other volunteers’ perseverance, and the special helpfulness of Wal-Mart officials, especially Tom Munson of O`ahu and Janie Whitehead of Kaua`i. |
